Are they really only making 6000 Type-Rs for the US ever, or only in the 2018 MY? What I’m asking is, are there going to be 2019 Type-Rs or not? If so, all that dealer markup nonsense would be even more stupid than it already is.

I’m not 100% sure, but only about 99.9% sure that there will be further model years. They went through all that engineering to meet US spec for a one year sale? I don’t think so.

When Car Throttle reviewed it, they said Honda was planning on making it for 5 years. So I’m assuming we’ll have them here into 2021.

They said they’re going to make them until 2021.

They’ll crank these out of the Swindon factory as long as people are prepared to buy them.
That dealer mark up crap would not float in the U.K. or Europe.

So not exactly a limited production model like the 1Ms, and dealers are only feeding off the “gib right nao!!!” crowd. So if they don’t sell at those inflated prices, they will soon be leftovers amidst 2019 models. Thanks for the clarification.

Instant gratification. “Gib nao!!!” The whole ‘drive off the lot in your new XXXX today’ crap wouldn’t really float over here.

Pretty much, although the ones I’ve seen have been at or very close to MSRP. The Focus RS is going through that here right now, where dealers won’t budge on the prices even though they have several they’re not selling.
